The Avatel Enterprise team will focus on integrating Avaya’s products and services into large businesses, utilizing a dynamic team consisting of high-achieving engineering, sales and marketing professionals. Avatel will work with a vast array of partners and customers to advance the company's mission of growing its Enterprise division. Avaya CEO Kevin Kennedy said, “This is a strategic opportunity to acquire talent and complementary assets that position the combined company for growth and success”. Avaya and Avatel agree that the talent and expertise of Nortel employees will make their outstanding teams even stronger.
Avatel is fortunate to have recently acquired Ryan Benson, a Senior Nortel Systems Engineer with an NCA -Nortel Certified Architect certification level. Benson worked directly for Nortel, designing Enterprise class networks in the Southeast. A Computer and Electrical Engineer who began in the aerospace industry, Benson acts as a liaison between the highly technical and business worlds. Wood says, “Ryan is a strong asset for Avatel and will be relied upon for solid network design, and trustworthy advice in a turbulent technological world.”
On Sept. 15th, Avaya’s President and CEO Kevin Kennedy announced that Avaya has won the auction to pursue the acquisition of Nortel Enterprise Solutions, subject to bankruptcy court approval. Kevin Kennedy states, “This is also a strategic opportunity to extend our technology leadership and bring the compelling benefits of our Avaya Aura TM architecture to an even broader set of global customers. Avaya Aura’s open, standards-based architecture helps enable customers to lower costs, simplify operations and integrate with multi-vendor SIP based systems”.
Avatel and Avaya are committed to protecting the communications investments of the customers of Avaya and Nortel. Avatel’s Enterprise team will support Avaya’s efforts for a smooth product migration path and protection of their technology investment, with a “wrap and extend” approach”. With Avaya's high-touch channel-centric strategy, Avatel will be better positioned to deliver value-added Enterprise communication solutions. Avatel will align with Avaya’s Enterprise team to reinforce to its customers that Avatel, as a part of Avaya’s channel ecosystem, is an extension of Avaya.

Avatel Technologies named “2009 Best Places to Work”

Avatel Technologies named “2009 Best Places to Work” in the big company category by the Tampa Bay Business Journal
Brandon, FL: May 4, 2009 – Avatel Technologies has been named the winner of the “2009 Best Places to Work” in the big company category by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. Headquartered in the Tampa Bay area, Avatel Technologies is a Nationwide Premier Avaya Business Partner with Avaya’s “Expert” designation. Avatel is a total communications facilitator, with expertise in Avaya systems design, implementation, installation and maintenance.
Avatel owes most of its success to its employees and believes in a holistic view of the organization, recognizing the important role that its employees play in the bigger picture. Avatel believes that successful cultures are built by cultivating and keeping happy, hard-working people and to be most effective, every employee must feel empowered to participate, communicate and innovate. Avatel strives for a workplace where opportunity, openness, enthusiasm, diversity, teamwork, accountability and a sense of purpose combine to provide a rewarding professional experience that promotes fairness, dignity and a respect for all employees.
According to Jamie Wood, Executive Vice President with Avatel, it takes everyone on the team, one way or another to make their customers happy and it all starts with “Attitude”. “Employee attitudes, good or bad, will have a direct influence on customers. Avatel understands that customers can tell if an employee is happy in his/her job. We believe that business is built around people, employees, customers and vendors and fosters a working environment that rewards enthusiasm, teamwork, individual initiative and an appropriate work-life balance,” said Wood.
That belief has been rewarded with relationships such as the one Avatel has developed with Orkin Pest Control, Inc. (Rollins, Inc.). According to Jamie Low, Rollins, Inc ITC Operations Supervisor, “It began in 2003 on a small scale with a few maintenance contracts for CPE and small scale MAC orders. It has since grown to over 300 locations with maintenance support and MAC orders. We rely on our team at Avatel Technologies to provide the highest level of support to our branch offices and we place trust in their judgment when we rely on their suggested course of action. Over time we have become more than just a customer to our Avatel team, we have become like a family. We are glad to have a mutually beneficial relationship with a top notch organization like Avatel Technologies and are proud to hear of the award they have recently received from the Business Journal. I am sure it was well earned by their employees and management team. They are a pleasure to work with and I can see why they have been recognized as a great place to work. Congratulations from all of us at Rollins!”
At the end of every day, the assets of a company walk out the door. The challenge facing all companies is to provide an environment which will encourage their assets to want to return the next morning. According to Wood, it is the goal at Avatel to motivate all team members and to have each employee excited to return each and every day. “No one welcomes tough times. Yet, during even the most difficult periods, we will thrive, grow and prosper. Avatel will ignore the doomsayers and seize the opportunity to increase sales, introduce new products and services, and capture a greater share of the market. As business has slowed, many other companies have had to lay people off, but that is not the case with us. We are making sure we provide effective leadership, communications of a shared mission and the proper design and administration of performance improvement programs that can boost productivity and business results.”
“Leaders are responsible for the creation of a vision, and the vision provides the basic energy source for moving the organization towards the future. We want an organization that can evolve and grow in this economy, which can modify itself as technology, skills, competitors, and the entire business changes. Avatel will adjust to changing times while still holding to unchanging principles. At Avatel, our path is clear to provide strong leadership, improved cultures, shared mission and goals, individual and team-based performance improvement programs and—most important and necessary in down times—a focus on the reduction of employee anxiety and an increase in positive reinforcement”, said Wood.
